LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Tuesday suspended the appointment of Javed Jehangir as accountant general of Punjab (AGP) and allowed Imran Iqbal to continue in the capacity. Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan issued the order on the petition of Imran Iqbal. Iqbal said the auditor general had transferred him and appointed Javed Jehangir in his place. He argued that the auditor general did not have the power of appointing the AGP. Iqbal said only the controller general of accounts had the power to appoint the accountant general of Punjab. The court suspended the appointment after hearing the arguments and adjourned the hearing till the first week of September.
