Back on track: Railway tracks damaged in explosion

The explosion ripped off between one to two feet of the track.

HYDERABAD: An explosion on the railway tracks in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning damaged both the up and down country tracks and suspended the movement of trains for several hours. The incident took place near the Detha railway station within the jurisdiction of Rahuki police station in Hyderabad Rural taluka. According to the bomb disposal squad, light improvised-explosive devices were used in the blast. The explosion ripped off between one to two feet of the track. Meanwhile, the incident’s FIR has been lodged in Rahuki police station against unknown suspects. Later, Pakistan Railways engineers restored railway traffic while operations were suspended for four hours. Police said that preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of activists from a nationalist organisation in the blast.
