RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD:

The City Traffic Police (CTP) have chalked out a comprehensive plan for Independence Day and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Azadi March.

Under the plan, traffic wardens will be deployed in double shifts in the garrison city to avoid a traffic mess on August 14.

A control room has been set up at the CTP Headquarters to monitor the situation while a helpline (1915, 051-9272616, 051-9269200 [for Murree]) has also been set up.

Chief Traffic Officer SSP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said on Tuesday all-out efforts would be made to control traffic on Rawalpindi’s roads and in Murree.

He said one-wheelers would be dealt in accordance with the law and traffic wardens have been directed to impound motorcycles of one-wheelers in their respective police stations.

Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will issue special driving licences of international standards with a picture of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on the eve of Independence Day. SSP (Traffic) Asmatullah Junejo said ITP has decided to change visible features of its driving licences, adding that the new licences would have the picture of the founder of Pakistan.
