Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat leader killed

KARACHI: The vice president of the Karachi division of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat was shot dead on Saturday on Dalmia Road.

Muhammad Manzoor Khan, 46, was getting his car repaired at a workshop on Dalmia Road when three men on separate motorcycles came and opened fire at him, said the Shahrahe- Faisal police.

He died immediately and leaves behind seven children. The firing spread panic in the area while the attackers managed to flee. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and then handed over to Khan’s family.

The spokesperson of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Ahsan Farooqi, told Daily Express that Khan lived near the Faizan-i- Madina madrasah in PIB colony and had previously been the president of the Karachi division of the party.

Farooqi said that terrorists were trying to create unrest in the city by targeting religious leaders, while the police have failed to arrest even a single culprit. The government had assured the party leaders of maximum security but failed to live up to their promises, which is why acts of terrorism have become rampant, he said.
