Preparations: Rescue 1122 seeks more ambulances

Rescue 1122 has asked authorities for 20 more ambulances to handle any emergency on Independence Day.

RAWALPINDI: Rescue 1122 has asked authorities for 20 more ambulances to handle any emergency on Independence Day. Rawalpindi District Emergency Officer Dr Abdul Rehman said, “Rescue 1122 has requested the city government to provide 15-20 ambulances for its special posts at Rawat, Kacheri Chowk, Faizabad and Pirwadahi Mor to effectively respond to any emergency.” Presently, he said, only 13 ambulances are in a working condition and one has been out of order for a year now. He said the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) will remain on high alert in the district on Independence Day and all emergency officers have been assigned special duties at stations and sensitive areas to provide swift response to victims. He said ambulances and fire vehicles and the staff have been put on high alert and all staff leave cancelled.
