Future engineers: More than 14,000 candidates appear for UET entrance test

Results to be announced on August 11 on ETEA website.

PESHAWAR: The entrance test for the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar’s academic session 2014-2015 was conducted on Sunday simultaneously in four centres across the province.

A total of 14,782 candidates from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan sat for the test conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA). Of the total candidates, 530 were girls.

Sunday’s test was held simultaneously at Islamia Collegiate Ground and Cricket Ground in the University of Peshawar, Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, Grassy Ground Saidu Sharif and University Wensum College, DI Khan. The results will be announced on August 11 and will be available at the ETEA website, www.etea.edu.pk.

In Peshawar, 9,795 appeared for the exam, in Abbottabad 1,591, in Swat 2,205 and 1,191 candidates took the test in DI Khan.

UET Peshawar Vice Chancellor (VC) Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani was present at the Peshawar test centre and expressed satisfaction regarding the arrangements made for the candidates.

K-P Higher Education Secretary Farah Hamid and Additional Secretary Khalid Khan were also satisfied by the arrangements.

Khyber Medical University VC Prof Dr Hafeezullah, KMU Academics Director Prof Dr Shad Muhammad, and UET Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof Dr Zahid Mehmood were also present while the test was being conducted.
