Dead and buried: Grave restored, Petition withdrawn

Petitioner said his grandmother had alerted him about the trespass.

A man withdrew a petition against Miani Sahib graveyard management on Saturday after the grave of his grandmother was restored.

Imran Javed, the petitioner, said Miani Sahib management had reconstructed the grave of his grandmother and that he did not want to pursue the matter any longer.

He had filed a petition against three caretakers of the graveyard after he discovered that a grave had been constructed where his grandmother’s grave had been. He said his grandmother had alerted him about the trespass. He said he had discovered upon inspection that Khalid, Zubair and Arif, the graveyard’s caretakers, had constructed a grave over his grandmother’s grave after receiving a bribe.  He said he had made several complaints to the administration but his efforts had proved futile. He said the caretakers had instead threatened him with dire consequences. He said the police had also failed to take action against the men.
