PCB chairman elections set for August 18

PCB also announces new governing body.

Interim chairman and election commissioner of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Justice (retd) Sair Ali announced on Saturday that elections for a new PCB chairman will take place on August 18.

According to a PCB press release, Ali also named the governing body for the elections which comprises Shakil Ahmad Shaikh (Islamabad), Gul Zada (Peshawar), Iqbal Qasim (National Bank of Pakistan), Amjad Latif (Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited), Mansoor Masood Khan (United Bank Limited) and Yousaf Naseem Khokhar (Water and Power Development Authority).

The nomination for the Karachi region will be made by the Sindh High Court, while Rawalpindi failed to nominate any individual due to the absence of duly elected representatives.

Patron-in-chief Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has nominated Najam Sethi and Shaharyar Khan for the position. While the federal secretary, Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, government of Pakistan or any officer nominated by him shall be an ex-officio non-voting member.

The PCB said that the process of scrutiny, withdrawal of nomination papers and issuance of the final list of candidates will be completed on August 16.

A special meeting for election of the chairman, followed by declaration of result and issuance of notification as well as assumption of the PCB chairman office will take place on August 18 at 3:00pm.

Total farce. Najam Sethi vs Shaharyar Khan... A crude joke by Nawaz Sharif with the people of Pakistan.
