According to Roznama Express, the directives were mutually issued by Director General Excise and Taxation and the chairman of the Cinema Owners Association Zuraiz Lashari. Following their orders, a circular has been sent to all exhibitors across Punjab. This increase in the price of tickets will last till September 30, after which the amount collected will be sent for relief efforts.
“This is true. The increase in ticket prices has already happened,” Lashari’s representative told The Express Tribune. He further clarified that be it multiplexes or single-screen cinemas, the price hike will cover all movie theatres in Punjab.
Bearing in mind that more than 50 per cent of the total box-office earnings are generated from Punjab, this could be a substantial step for the cinema industry, which has recently started to make huge profits.
Exhibitors have recently been celebrating the tremendous box-office success of Kick. The Salman Khan starrer brought back to life some of the most deserted cinemas in Pakistan. This philanthropic intiative is another high point for the cinema industry in Pakistan.

Do whatever we can do for IDPs
Several years back, perhaps in mid 70s, Pakistan had huge floods. Cinemas throughout Pakistan started adding "Flood Relief Tax" to the ticket, and this tax collection process continued several years afterwards..
Good initiative by them.
Never mind. IDP's do need our help.
