The 33-member committee, comprising members of all parties in proportion to their representation in the parliament, will make recommendations to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the future.
Tasked with submitting its recommendations in three months, Dar said the committee will strive to complete its task within the stipulated timeframe.
The committee will meet under its new chief on Monday, August 11.
Reforms committee
The lower house, under Rule 244(B) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007, authorised the speaker to constitute the committee in consultation with the Senate chairman and leaders of the parliamentary parties.
Lawmakers from the lower house on the committee are Zahid Hamid, Anusha Rehman Khan Advocate, Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Abdul Rahim Mandokhail, Naeema Kishwar Khan, Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi, Ghaus Bux Khan Mahar, Syed Ghazi Ghulab Jamal, Usman Khan Tarakai, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Ejazul Haq, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Syed Naveed Qamar, Shazia Mari, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, Shafqat Mehmood, Dr Shireen Mazari, Dr Arif Alvi and Dr Farooq Sattar.
Senators on the committee include Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana, Muhammad Talha Mehmood, Hilalur Rehman, Aitzaz Ahsan, Mian Raza Rabbani, Farooq Hamid Naek, Haji Adeel, Mir Israrullah Khan Zehri, Mushahid Hussain Syed and Col (retd) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi.

I think this is a good decision...committee have 33 members, everyone should participate in a good manner. The process is good and it will give good results.
Dar has proven he can't be relied on to honestly disclose financial information - covered up Saudi contributions and blamed false economic data on typo's. Can't think of anyone less qualified to reform a corrupt election process. Good topic for ET editorial.

All - Dar is elected by the 33 member committee. That committee has only 6 or so PMLN guys including Dar. The committee also has Alvi, Sattar and many others. They all elected him and Not appointed by Nawaz.

PTI did not select Imran for the committee itself (names were sent to Speaker 10+ days ago). Imran considers anything but PM position beneath himself. Does not attend NA session.
It is like fox guarding the chicken coop, these were the people who were involved in the vote fraud in the first place. Because of their cheating there is stand off between PTI and PML-N, it is just pathetic situation, if Nawaz Sharif was sincere in honest electoral system , he would have not put hurdles in the thumb verification of 4 constituencies IK was demanding initially, now it is different ball game. How long these corrupt politicians are going to hook wink the nation, it is time to clean up this mess.
No representation of Minorities of Pakistan appears in the parliamentary Electoral Reforms Committee why ?
PPP senior leader Qamar Zaman Kaira floated an idea of appointing Imran Khan as the chair of election reform committee and tasking him with proposals for election reform, So Shareefs are in rush to appoint their brother in law so this chapter could be closed.
So a qualified money launderer will head the electoral reform committee. The other qualification he hold is the 'Samdhi' factor. Nawaz will never learn, seems to be the third time unlucky. Nepotism, hypocrisy just got better. Anyways the time is up for the fraudulent government, why working on committees now. Days are numbered...and the countdown has began.
For those crying, this committee will elect its chair person on its own hence foolish to blame Nawaz and Dar.
Looks like NS never learns. Raza Rabbani as chairman would have given the whole process the required credibility and kept the PTI in control and within the process. Selection of Dar means the Govtis not serious about this important task.

My pick would have Raza Rabbani for Chair of this Committee. And how does a non-serious person like Shireen Mazari gets to be in this committee? What is her contribution to politics and society besides dyeing the top of her head with Psychedelic colors? PTI would have been better served by someone like Javed Hashmi.
