No loss: Militants target security forces vehicle in Upper Dir

Following the blast, search operation launched in the area and 12 suspects arrested

UPPER DIR:


Unidentified militants targeted a security forces vehicle with an improvised explosive device in Upper Dir on Monday morning. Fortunately, the officials escaped unhurt.


A law-enforcement official told The Express Tribune that a vehicle of the 21-Brigade Dir was on Barawal Road in Sorbatt when an IED planted nearby exploded.


He added the officials onboard remained unhurt, but the vehicle was damaged.


Following the blast, a search operation was launched in the area and 12 suspects were arrested.


On June 21, a police official was killed when an IED planted by unidentified militants exploded near a police van in Ouch, Lower Dir. Ashbanr police officials were patrolling Chakdara tehsil around 10pm and when the mobile reached Warsak Kandao, militants detonated a bomb planted along a roadside. The explosion damaged the police van and severely injured constable Islam Gul. He later succumbed to his injuries.
