Rallies held to mark Independence Day

The DCO said flags would be hoisted at various important buildings in the city.

Multan District Coordination Officer Zahid Mehmood Gondal on Sunday led a rally to mark Independence Day celebrations.


The rally started from Fort Kuhna Qasim and ended at Katchery Chowk in Multan. Addressing the participants, Gondal said various programmes had been organised in connection with Independence Day celebrations. He said these celebrations would last the entire month.

The DCO said flags would be hoisted at various important buildings in the city.

He said rallies, seminars, speech contests, sports festival and musical concerts would be organised to mark the independence of Pakistan.

Gondal also paid tribute to fallen soldiers.

MPA Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi said the government would host dozens of programmes across the province.

Arrangements finalised

Rahim Yar Khan Administration Officer Riyasat Ali on Sunday said arrangements for programmes to mark Pakistan’s 68th Independence Day were being finalised at district and tehsil levels.

Speaking at a meeting, Ali said all assistant commissioners would organise programmes in their respective tehsils. He said various sports, literature, cultural and other programmes would be held for the public throughout August.

He said as per government instructions, national flags would be hoisted on all public transport and government officials would pin badges of the national flag on their clothes. He said that main ceremony to mark Independence Day would be held at Town Hall.
