FAISALABAD: Police on Sunday took into custody 15 people during a search operation in houses located near Central Jail Faisalabad. City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Sohail Habib Tajik told reporters that the search operation was conducted to thwart any terrorist attack on the jail. “A number of dangerous criminals and terrorists are imprisoned in the Central Jail. The prison is also on the terrorists’ hit-list. So, we decided to check the houses located near the jail,” Tajik said. He said three police teams were constituted to conduct the search. “The teams, under the supervision of Iqbal Town SP Zulfiqar Ahmad, Saddar DSP Saleem Mehmood and Saddar SHO Waheed Shahid, conducted the search operation,” he said. The CPO said the police teams checked the identity cards and other documents of people residing in the localities. “During the search, 15 people, who were unable to prove their identity, were taken into custody,” he said.
