Traffic rules must be observed by tourists to avoid a traffic jam in Murree. This was stated by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz.
He said action in accordance with the law is being taken against vehicles parked in no parking zones. He informed that all the arrangements made to facilitate tourists are being checked and supervised by senior traffic police officers.
He said a helpline (1915) was introduced for facilitating tourists and citizens. He said 390 traffic wardens, under the supervision of inspectors, were deployed at all important points at the hill station.
The CTO said tourists should cooperate with the traffic police so traffic jams could be avoided, adding that an unprecedented rush was witnessed this year during the Eidul Fitr holidays as a high number of vehicles entered Murree.
Earlier on Thursday, the CTO had suspended the entry of all vehicles into Murree after severe traffic jams. It was reported that over 90,000 vehicles had entered the hill station, causing massive traffic jams.
