Corrective measures: ‘Govt transforming prisons into transitional centres’

Mandi Bahauddin District Jail Senior Superintendent Muhammad Akram Khan said on Friday that prisoners were being given every facility in accordance with the law. Khan was speaking to journalists during a press conference.

He said that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated and action would be taken against any officials found guilty of delinquency.  He said that the government had converted prisons into transitional centres which provide a range of correctional services aimed at making prisoners constributing members of the society. Khan said that no stone would be left unturned towards achieving this objective. He said that quality food was being provided to inmates according to their dietary needs and preferences. Khan said that all kinds of facilities were being extended to inmates’ visitors. He said that religious and ethical education was being imparted to the prisoners as per instructions.
