Good food: Special menu for prisoners on Eid

DIG says 2,526 under-trial prisoners in Camp Jail were served a special menu on Eid

LAHORE: Punjab Prisons Chief Mian Farooq Nazeer on Thursday said 48,320 under-trial prisoners in 32 prisons in the province were served vermicelli, chicken qorma, chicken biryani and sweets on Eidul Fitr. Nazeer said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had directed officials to double the daily ration of food for prisoners on Eid day. DIG Mubashar Malik said 2,526 under-trial prisoners in Camp Jail were served a special menu on Eid. Their relatives were also allowed to bring them food. He said the inspector general, Camp Jail Superintendent Shahram Tauqir Khan and all superintendents, deputy superintendents and assistant superintendents jail offered Eid prayers with prisoners on jail premises. He said additional personnel were deployed around the prisons to beef up security.
