Police and district administration have made special security arrangements on Eidul Fitr in Bahawalpur.
A meeting of the District Emergency Board was held at the DCO’s office on Monday to finalise the arrangements.
The meeting was informed that separate security and disaster management plans had been prepared and an emergency control room had been established at the DCO’s office.
A focal person from every government department has been deputed at the control room. To deal with any emergency situation, 70 ambulances and a bomb disposal squad vehicle would also be available.
The Rescue 1122 has established six camps in the city, where staff, ambulances and fire brigade vehicles will be present.
Close circuit television cameras have been installed and will be monitored by the control room. During Eid prayers, police, Civil Defence, Health Department and Rescue 1122 staff will remain on alert.
Regional Transport Authority Secretary Muhammad Tanveer Jhandeer said on Monday that a complaint cell had been established. The cell will continue to receive overcharging complaints until August 1.
Citizens were asked to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. Unattended bags should be reported to the police.
