Eid marks the end of holy month of Ramazan for Muslims worldwide and will be celebrated in Pakistan on Tuesday.
The various zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees had convened a meeting to sight the moon in major cities of the country while the Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee meeting was held at the Meteorological office in Karachi.
Ruet-e-Hilal committee chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman said that the sky was overcast in many parts of the country on Monday. However, they had received testimonies of the moon being sighted were received from Nawabshah, Sukkur, Thatta, Jacobabad, Pasni, Jiwani, Umerkot, Zhob and Badin on the basis of which the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee announced that Eid will be celebrated on Tuesday.
Shortly after news broke of the Eid moon being sighted, celebratory aeirial gunfire was heard in various parts of Karachi.
Eid congregations will be held at open places‚ mosques and Eidgahs in all major cities of the country.
As Eid is being celebrated in the backdrop of operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan and Israeli aggression in Gaza, special prayers would be offered for the well-being of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and security of Palestinian people.
Prayers would also be offered for security, progress and prosperity of the country.
Meanwhile‚ security has been beefed up in different parts of the country including the federal capital to avoid any untoward incident on the auspicious occasion.

Moon sighting to be left to the individual choice. My eye sight is more powerful than the eye sight of old mullah.

My smartphone will tell me exactly at what time the moon will show up in my neck of the woods using GPS positioning. It is accurate to the second.
Eid mubarak to everyone with a prayer that "Allah quom ko hadayat day, Ameen."
Johannes kepler's third law states the square of the time required for a satellite (moon) to orbit is proportional to the cube of the distance the satellite lies from the planet. The imam represented as i can use the Cartesian or x, y, z coordinates to calculate the fullness of the moon m. Obviously the square root of ((Xm-Xi) squared + (Ym-Yi) squared + (Zm-Zi) squared) + (Ca - Cp)). Fortunately the affect of the brightness of the moon Ca for apogee (west most point of the earth when viewing the moon) or Cp for pergree (east most point of earth when viewing the moon) do cancel each other to simplify the equation. We therefore have a unified theorem that wherever on the earth you are it is the same day for Eid. I therefore wish you a happy Eid on either Monday or Tuesday as the imams of our local mosques are still calculating the fractional deviations from their respective mosques - but such is the affect of pye Simple really.
Eid Mubarak to all.
