One of their decisive encounters will be against K-Electric in the Karachi Gymkhana final, while a mouth-watering finale is also scheduled against Advance Telecom in the 2nd Peace Cup tournament. The third showdown will take place against defending champions Tapal CC in the Aga Khan Gymkhana competition.
Omar Associates clean-swept almost all the major events last year and the team is hoping to repeat history in order to maintain its supremacy.
“We’ll try to win all the remaining major Ramzan tournaments this year after losing out on the Dr MA Shah Night Trophy,” team manager Azam Khan told The Express Tribune.
“We’ve played really well as a unit so far, and the players are keen on winning the remaining three events.”
Yaseen’s blitz puts Advance Telecom in final
Opening batsman Mohammad Yaseen made a whirlwind half-century to help Advance Telecom move into final in the 2nd Peace Cup tournament as they defeated Eaton by 13 runs in the second semi-final at the Naya Nazimabad Lawai Stadium.
Batting first, Advance Telecom scored 171-8 in their quota as Yaseen contributed 82 runs off 53 deliveries with four sixes and eight boundaries, while Saadat Munir and Asif Ali claimed three wickets apiece. In reply, Eaton could only manage 158-5 in 20 overs as Usman Javed top-scored with 59.
