PCB to stage ‘Jashne Azadi’ event
Teams from Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will be competing in the event.
The board decided against forming a squad from the Federal Territory, which used to include players from Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the past.
Host cities for the tournament comprise Quetta, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore, which will hold the final on August 14.
“The PCB will be staging a Jashne Azadi T20 tournament in August to celebrate Independence Day,” a PCB official told the The Express Tribune.
“It will be an important competition and the board has decided to allow national players, who are due to play in one-dayers against Sri Lanka, to participate in the tournament in order to draw more crowds,” the official added.
