Majid Nizami passes away

Founder of the Nawa-i-Waqt group Majid Nizami passed away Saturday while receiving heart treatment in Lahore. He was 86.


His funeral prayer was offered at Jinnah Garden, which was attended by Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, Governor Chaudhry Muhammad
Sarwar, and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq among others, while he was buried at Miani Sahib Graveyard.

The soyem will be held at his residence 43 Mason Road, Lahore, at 2 pm today (Sunday).

He was born on April 3, 1928 in Sangla Hill, Sheikhupura, Punjab.

While he was a student, he actively participated in the Pakistan Movement and joined the Muslim Students Federation.

Liaquat Ali Khan, realising his contributions to the cause of independence, conferred upon him the sword of honour and title of Mujahid-e-Tehreek-e-Pakistan.
