BAHAWALPUR:

Police on Friday unravelled an abduction case. They recovered the missing boy and discovered that he had in fact staged a kidnap to get money from his parents.

Police said Muhammad Yousaf, a resident of Kacha village, was ‘abducted’ a few days ago. The ‘kidnappers’ called up his parents and demanded a Rs2.5 million ransom.  Yousaf’s parents filed a complaint with the Airport police against unidentified persons. The police traced the kidnappers’ phone to a house in Multan. They raided the house on Friday and recovered Yousaf. They arrested the ‘kidnappers’ Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Imran.

One of the men, Naveed Ahmed, managed to flee the scene. Initial investigations revealed that Yousaf had staged the abduction and the men had planned to split the ransom money. Yousaf and his accomplices were presented in an anti-terrorism court.

Police said they were also looking for Ahmed.
