Cooperation: UN book corner to be set up at NBF

NBF also agrees to translate various books of the UN in Urdu and other vernacular languages.

United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Director Vittorio Cammarota proposed setting up a UN Book Corner at the National Book Foundation (NBF).


He visited the foundation’s office on Thursday, said a press release. NBF Managing Director Dr Inamul Haq Javed briefed Cammarota about the foundation and its services to promote books and book-reading in Pakistan.

Vittorio proposed a UN Book Corner at NBF which would have various UN books and reports.

The UNIC director, while appreciating the role of the NBF, also informed about various services that the information centre was providing and expressed the desire to have a joint collaboration with NBF.

NBF also agreed to translate various books of the UN in Urdu and other vernacular languages including books in Braille to increase understanding about the international body and its various roles in promoting and supporting development of Pakistan.

NBF Book Ambassador Muhammad Asif Noor and NBF Secretary Aftab Sommro were also present on the occasion.
