Boycotting duties: Medical staff protest theft of colleague’s vehicle

TIMERGARA: Doctors at District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara protested on Wednesday against the carjacking of their colleague and shut down the medical facility, causing many patients to suffer as a result.

A police official said Dr Umar Wahid parked his car at the hospital on Tuesday, adding it was later stolen by unidentified men.

He said police blocked all entry and exit routes of the area soon after, but were unable to locate the missing vehicle.

On Wednesday morning, doctors shut down the out-patients department along with other wards.

The official said police visited the doctors to try and persuade them to re-open the hospital but the medics did not pay heed.

Doctors, on the other hand, complained police had done nothing to recover the stolen vehicle.
