Caught red-handed: Patwari arrested for taking bribe

A case was then registered against Mehmood, who has been put behind bars.

KOHAT: A patwari was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe in Kohat district on Tuesday. The anti-corruption unit’s assistant director in Kohat, Ali Ahmad Khan, told journalists a man identifying himself as Wakeel Khan told the anti-corruption unit that he bought a 24-marla plot in Togh. Ali said Wakeel reported that the patwari, Ahsan Mehmood, demanded Rs72,000 to transfer the property to Wakeel. The two later agreed on Rs40,000  but Wakeel informed the police before paying the money to Mehmood who was subsequently caught red-handed. A case was then registered against Mehmood, who has been put behind bars.
