On fire: Garment factory set ablaze

Police officials also reached the site and the factory was immediately evacuated.

KARACHI: A garment factory was gutted in a fire in the New Karachi Industrial Area on Tuesday. According to fire brigade officials, the fire department had initially sent six tenders to douse the flames. However, two more had to be sent to extinguish the fire. After three hours of hectic effort, the firemen were able to put out the fire, they said. Fire fighters said that two floors of the garment factory were completely devastated by the fire and a huge loss was bore after production material worth millions of rupees was destroyed in the fire. Fire brigade authorities said that a short circuit could be the cause of the fire. Police officials also reached the site and the factory was immediately evacuated.
