Commonwealth games: Pakistan contingent leaves for Glasgow

Athletes will be competing in badminton, boxing, gymnastics, shooting, table tennis,weightlifting & wrestling

KARACHI:


A 62-member national squad under the supervision of Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Affairs Syed Riaz Hussain Pirzada left for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow from Islamabad airport on Monday.


The athletes will be competing in badminton, boxing, gymnastics, shooting, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.


The Pakistan Olympic Association earlier selected an 83-man squad, which was later reduced to 62. The selected players from the respective sports will represent the country along with their officials who will be head by Pirzada, while Pakistan Sports Board’s Director General Akhtar Nawaz will perform the duties of his deputy.


The Commonwealth Games will be held from July 23 to August 3 in Glasgow, Scotland.
