Helping the displaced: Complaint cell to be set up for IDPs in Bannu

Will be dismantled after repatriation of those affected, say officials.

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has announced the government will set up a complaint cell for internally displaced persons in Bannu, officials at Chief Minister House told The Express Tribune on Monday.

According to them, the chief minister’s complaint cell, which already exists in the provincial capital, received numerous complaints about problems faced by displaced people. This compelled the chief minister to set up a temporary complaint cell at Bannu, just for the IDPs.



“The complaint cell will deal with complaints of displaced persons only. The set-up is for the time being and will be wound up soon after the repatriation of the affected persons," said one official, requesting anonymity.

Meanwhile, an official notification issued on Monday stated that Zeenatullah, a volunteer, has been appointed in charge of the complaint cell at Bannu.

The complaint cell in the provincial capital receives complaints on different departments and even people, which are then followed up on by the department concerned. A number of complaints have been received and redressed, with a majority of them pertaining to mismanagement in government departments.
