Protest continues: PMA demands arrest of assailants

LARKANA:

Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Larkana Chapter, has announced to continue protest until the perpetrators of the targeted doctors are not arrested.

According to a press release, PMA president Dr Shah Baig Chandio said that a few days ago Dr Ghulam Fareed Khuhawar was abducted from Warah and has yet to be recovered by the police. He said that land grabbers are threatening Dr Hafeeza Begum and Dr Zulfiqar Rahujo and warned them to either vacate their clinic or face the consequences.

He added that the police of the Kambar-Shahdadkot district have not taken any action against the mafia. On Saturday, all out-patient departments (OPDs) were boycotted from 10am onward, including the main OPD of the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Shaikh Zaid Hospital for Women OPD and Ophthalmology OPD to register protest against the firing incident targeting Dr Khalilur Rahman Soomro.

Dr Ikram Tunio and other doctors said that their struggle will continue until the culprits involved in the mentioned crimes are brought to justice and Khuhawar is recovered.

They warned that if their demands are not met, they will start a province-wide protest from Monday.
