Businessman shot dead

A businessman was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists on Thursday morning, in what the police claimed was “undoubtedly” a sectarian attack.
Saba Ali, a jeweller by profession and a resident of Mohallah Kashmiri in Kotwali, was a Shia. He was ambushed by the gunmen at Ganj Chowk and died on the spot. The assailants managed to escape after the incident.
A police official said Ali used to actively participate in Sangats as a Noha Khwan during Muharram. “An FIR has been registered against unidentified assailants. However, this is, without a doubt, a sectarian killing,” he added. Separately, an activist of outlawed militant outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba, Zahir Shah, was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists in Pipal Mandi late Wednesday night.
