Crime of passion: Man strangles wife

Man murders father over inheritance dispute.

A man on Monday strangled his second wife in Bahawalpur, allegedly with help from his first wife, after a heated argument.


Lonaji, a resident of Sadiqabad Saddar area, had married twice and both his wives lived in the same house. Gujri, his first wife, had frequent quarrels with Devi. On Monday, they had another argument, and Gujri and Lonaji attacked Devi and strangled her.

Sadiqabad Saddar police said the suspects had fled.

Property dispute

A man murdered his father over a property dispute on Sunday night in Ahmedpur East.

Rasheed, who is a drug addict, had been asking his 70-year-old father Nazeer Ahmad to sell their house and give him the money. However, Ahmad had refused to do so. On Sunday night, Rasheed attacked his father with a stick. Ahmad received critical injuries and died on the spot.

Ahmadpur East police have registered a case and are looking for Rasheed.

Man shot dead

Four men shot and killed another man in Kalarwali near Shehr Sultan on Sunday night. Ibrahim was returning home when Zafar Nonari and his three unidentified accomplices opened fire on him. Ibrahim died on the spot as a result of the injuries.

Ishaq Qureshi, the victim’s brother, told police that Nonari had murdered Ibrahim believing him to be police informant.
