This was said by Operations Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sultan Azam Temuri on Sunday while he addressed the concluding ceremony of a refresher course for investigation officers at various police stations.
A batch of 28 investigation officers attended the course, held here at Police Lines Headquarters. Lawyers and senior police officials delivered lectures to the participants.
The refresher course was arranged to bring improvement in the police investigation process and to ensure a professional approach during handling of various cases.
The Operations AIG said Inspector General of the Islamabad Police Aftab Ahmed Cheema wanted to see improvements in conducting of investigations by inculcating professional skills in police officials. He urged policemen to participate in such courses.
Temuri said investigations were a purely technical matter. He also asked the policemen to remain in touch with complainants and decide the cases on merit.
The main subject area of the course was lodging of FIRs with the application of the right sections of the law and professional investigation into cases.
Temuri said that the duration of such courses was being extended by up to five days so that police officials could also get practical training. Temuri also urged the participants to work towards providing relief to citizens.
After the police officials brought up problems they face during investigations, Temuri said the issues would be resolved in a professional manner after consultation with legal experts. He said the purpose of such refresher courses was also to discuss complex issues and find legal solutions for them.
