LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said on Saturday that the PUC would organise a conference to express solidarity with Palestine on June 13 (today).

Representatives of political parties and other organisations would address the seminar. Ashrafi said the Muslim world’s silence over the Gaza situation was unacceptable. He said that the Israeli operation in Gaza had reduced the Muslim world and the United Nations to being silent spectators.  Ashrafi said that the prime minister’s condemnation of Israeli aggression was insufficient. He said that Pakistan should convene an emergency Islamic conference to chalk out a roadmap to determine the future course of action. Ashrafi said that the Palestinian ambassador Walid Abu Ali would address the gathering.
