LAHORE:

A consumer court on Saturday issued notices to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) chairman and managing director (MD) after politician Sohail Zia Butt filed a complaint in the court against the airline.

The petitioner has demanded Rs10 million in damages from PIA authorities, claiming he suffered “mental distress” after travelling in the economy class while returning home from Saudi Arabia. He had a business-class return ticket.

He told the court that he had contacted PIA authorities when he arrived in Lahore and informed them about what had happened. However, he said, they had not taken any action on his complaint.

He has requested the court to direct the airline to pay him Rs10 million in damages.
