Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif met the Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi, in Beijing on Wednesday, where they discussed ongoing development projects being implemented in Pakistan with China’s cooperation.

The meeting lasted an hour and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal accompanied the chief minister on the occasion.

Shahbaz said he brought a message of goodwill from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the government and people of China, according to a handout released by the Punjab government. He also thanked Foreign Minister Wang for his role in the implementation of the economic package announced by China for Pakistan.

There has been considerable progress on the Pak-China Economic Corridor during just one year, Shahbaz said, which is reflective of the relationship between the two countries.

The chief minister said the Pakistani government is speedily implementing the Gwadar project and the process of acquisition of land has been completed.

Foreign Minister Wang said the doors of China are always open to Pakistani guests and no hurdle will be allowed in the way of projects such as the Karachi-Lahore Motorway. He said China is ready to relax rules and regulations for Pakistan in this regard, he added.

Beijing trip: Shahbaz discusses Punjab-China projects

Abdul Bari Mandokhail | 9 years ago | Reply Is it not unfair with other provinces.....??? I read a report and saw picture in which Chief Minister of Punjab Meets to Chinese foreign minister. They discussed the ongoing and upcoming projects in Pakistan. FM assures that the door of their country are always open for Pakistan.CM punjab termed the projects in Pakistan a reflection great friendship of China and Pakistan. Overall this is all appreciable. But the question which make confuse, how a representative of a province can meet with a most important persnolity of other country to talk on such things including Gawadar project and Karachi to Lahore road If he can discuss, then is it not right of CMs of Balochistan and Sindh too? Is it not the responsibility of Foreign advisor to PM? If Shahbaz Sharif is right, then why chief Ministers of other provinces like Balochistan, Sindh and Pashtunkhwa are not given such status to held meeting with such dignitaries? I have often seen that CM of Punjab goes alongwith Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to make ties with other countries in the field of economy, education. But other CMs are not given such opportunities to do so.What does it mean? Will it not raise a sense of deprivation among other provices? Is it not the responsibility of Federal govt to deal with all the provices without any kind of discrimination? If the question is yes, then the central govt should take this point seriously and behave with justictice in order to establish brotherhood among all nations, Punjabis, Pashtuns, sindhis, Balochs.
