RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Police have started appointing investigation inspectors at police stations in order to expedite the investigation process and make it more transparent.

The inspector-rank officers will monitor investigation progress of terrorism cases. Initially, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Humayun Bashir Tarar has deputed investigation inspectors at Airport, RA Bazaar, Sadiqabad, Civil Lines, Race Course and Westridge police stations. The inspectors have been tasked with helping investigation teams and guide them in preparing charge sheets in cases. There have been several cases where accused have been acquitted owing to faulty investigation by the police. Several high-profile cases such as the Gracy Lines, RA Bazaar and Dhoke Syedan suicide attacks are under investigation at the relevant police stations.

The investigation officers will also send recommendations to Superintendent Police Investigation Haroon Joya who will forward them to the CPO.
