Bandits and goons: ‘Faisalabad reels under crime wave’

An alarming surge in criminal activity was witnessed in the city over Saturday and Sunday. Police said a woman was shot dead and a man was seriously injured for resisting armed robbers and 32 incidents of hold ups were recorded in Faisalabad district in the last two days during which bandits snatched 17 motorcycles, cash and gold ornaments among other items.


Amina Bibi, a resident of Chak 70-GB, was travelling on a motorcycle with her brother when armed robbers held them at gunpoint and seized cash and jewellery from the victims. The culprits shot Amina Bibi after she resisted the robbers. She was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. In a separate incident, armed bandits seriously injured Allah Rakha, a resident of Chak-73JB, after he resisted robbers.

Armed criminals managed to deprive the staff of a travel agency on Canal Road of cash and mobile phones and fled from the scene of the crime. In separate incidents, 17 instances of motorcycle snatching were recorded over the past day.

In yet another incident, robbers looted two shops located on Jhang Road and in Nishatabad. Armed robbers forced entry into a house in Khayaban Colony and fled with cash, jewellery and other items. In a separate incident, robbers looted a house in Khawaja Gardens and took away valuable items. Police have started investigations.
