Civic utility: Seven new water schemes for capital

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration is set to launch seven new water schemes in the city at a cost of Rs271.421 million.

In addition to the new schemes, the existing schemes will be upgraded in a bid to overcome water shortage in the city.

An ICT official told APP that authorities are also working on plans to supply water in rural areas.

He said the completion of schemes will end water shortage there as well. At present, there are 12 union councils comprising 133 villages in the capital’s rural areas, said the official, adding the government is focused on providing basic civic facilities to the people by launching such projects.
