Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal has directed staff to ensure the availability of daily-use commodities at affordable prices at weekly bazaars during Ramazan.
He issued the directives at a meeting attended by Member Administration and Estate Amir Ali Ahmed, the municipal administration and weekly bazaars directors, and other officials.
Ahmed told the meeting that stringent measures have been taken for availability of daily used edible items at affordable prices at the weekly bazaars.
He said strict instructions have been issued to the officials overseeing the weekly bazaars to check prices of commodities according to the approved price list.
The meeting was informed about the prices of commodities being sold at the weekly bazaars. According to the price list, potatoes were being sold at Rs68 per kilogram (kg), onion at Rs34 per kg, tomatoes at Rs28 per kg, ginger at Rs300 per kg, garlic at Rs92 per kg, lemon at Rs110 per kg, green pepper at Rs68 per kg, okra at Rs36 per kg, peas at Rs76 per kg, aubergine at Rs26 per kg, pumpkin at Rs18 per kg and bitter gourd at Rs30 per kg. Similarly, fruit prices are, bananas at Rs100 per dozen, apple, chonsa mango at Rs100 per kg, honey melon at Rs36 per kg, watermelon Rs25 per kg and peach at Rs130 per kg.
In the open market, prices of fruit and vegetables are, potatoes Rs80 per kg, onion Rs50, tomatoes Rs40, ginger Rs360, garlic Rs180, okra Rs50, pumpkin Rs50, banana Rs200, apple Rs120, sindri mango Rs150 per kg, chonsa mango Rs140 per kg, honey melon Rs80, water melon Rs30 and peach Rs240.
