LAHORE: India released nine Pakistani prisoners, including five fishermen, on Friday and handed them over to Pakistan Rangers on the Wagah border. The prisoners were garlanded and served sweets upon their entry into Pakistani territory. Rangers sources said the prisoners had completed their imprisonment in different jails of India. On May 30, Indian authorities released 37 Pakistani prisoners, including 32 fishermen, a Pakistani foreign office’s spokesperson said. Currently, 477 Pakistani prisoners, including 131 fishermen, are lodged in Indian jails.
