Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan on Thursday said that he was willing to call off the August 14 long march on Islamabad if the Supreme Court opens a probe into election rigging in four constituencies.
“If a three-member judicial commission under the Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk investigates the electoral fraud and places the result before the nation in two weeks, we will call off the long march,” the PTI chief said.
He was speaking at the Kal Tak programme of the Express News hosted by Javed Chaudhry.
“No, we cannot give the government any more time,” he said pointing out that PTI has been fighting in tribunals for the past 14 months and giving more time will mean that one should get ready for the next elections.
Imran reiterated that the August 14 long march will be a giant leap towards real democracy that will herald a new Pakistan.
He said that the people were just as charged as they were in May 2013. “I felt the pulse of the crowd in Bahawalpur, we are starting from where we left out in 2013.”
He did not rule out demand for a mid-term election.
To a question about the status of Nawaz Sharif and his government post-August 14, Imran said, “I am not going to show all of my cards right now.”
On politics of confrontation, the former cricketer said that PTI went to election tribunals but no avail, “we wasted 14 months.”
The system has to be changed, he said.
He asserted that if the judicial commission finds allegations of rigging untrue and declares no electoral fraud has taken place, “I will go and congratulate Mian Nawaz Sharif on his victory.”
However, Imran said he believes that on May 11, 2013, the nation saw biggest electoral fraud in the history of Pakistan. Unless there is accountability, the practice of poll rigging will continue. “A few people have formed dynasties in Pakistan, their children are being groomed to rule us, this is not democracy, it is monarchy,” he said. Corruption cannot be eliminated without accountability, he asserted.
Regarding the operation in North Waziristan Imran said that he believed in democracy and would never have supported an armed offensive. “As a student of history and international relations, I assure that every conflict ends in dialogue,” he said. The Moro conflict of Muslims in the Philippines, he said, continued for over 40 years, only to end in talks that started a few months ago.
On the perception that PTI is resorting to confrontation because it cannot control the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, Imran said this was incorrect. He dilated upon the police reforms, improvements in education and health sectors the K-P government has achieved.
“There is no likelihood of K-P government being dissolved,” Imran said replying to a question by the host. The fact is, Imran said, the PTI unlike the N league, has not pumped Rs60 million of taxpayer money in self-aggrandising media campaigns.

good step of pti. long march is the solution of our prolems. we are with imran khan
BADNAAMI MARCH can't fsce the power of PLM-N supporters as army will be there to protect them . At present army needs moral support of an elected govt. to crush the terrorism .
Imran Khan is just trying to blackmail the Government of Pakistan. Right now we are fighting with terrorism and energy crises. Instead of wasting time Imran Khan should be focusing on the real issues not the personal issues with PML-N.
Imran Khan needs lessons in history or at least he should stop making up history. World War II ended after the unconditional surrender of Germany and Japan. The "talks" thereafter was only about the victors setting forth conditions. Nearly every major war ended along those lines. One of the combatants has to be weakened for talks to succeed.
Pakistan is passing through one of most critical phase in recent years. Imran & Tahir ul Qadri are wants to topple the system, at the time when Pakistan need stability, as the region is transforming (major econimic / logistical hub for Central Asia & Western China). Both of these self proclaimed saviors are working on some exteranlly derived agenda. May Allah help our Nation, to get rid of all such Hippocrates, Ameen
Good demands.
You can't have anyone say that IK didn't give a chance to PMLN Govt.
IK is real statesman.
@Adnan Siddiqi: It's nonsense to compare Pakistani outfits with the, then, ruling Khmer regime. In Cambodia, the rulers committed mass genocide on it's own citizens. Well, in Colombia, Sri Lanka and every other conflict, the parties ended up negotiating, right? If you compare, then who is/are ruling in Pakistan? And aren't Waziristanis also Pakistanis? Is making Cambodian style genocide and a mass exodus the solution to our problems? If we really want peace, we have to sit and discuss all issues with all parties and let rule of law punish those who deserve. Or, we can continue wasting Pakistanis blood by slaughtering each other.
A good politician always understands when he is being guided to a ditch by his rivals.Mr.IK be a wise politician and call off the Aug 14th protest rally. This is not the proper time as the nation is involved in a very deadly war on western front.I am sure you have no enmity with the army,so do not cause their attention to divert at the moment.un-conditionally of course
@aslam shah:
So let me get something straight here - you would want to engage a Pol Pot of sorts in the tribal areas in an "Honest" and " Mutual Respectful" dialogue after that Pol Pot has conducted a genocide and slaughtered millions? In Columbia, the government started a round of negotiations and peace dialogue after it hammered and fatigued FARC-EP that this thuggish group did not have a choice but to come on the negotiating table on Columbian Government's terms.
Ditto in SriLanka as well which pulverized the Tamil Tigers and smashed them into smithereens that by the end of it, the remnants of Tamil Elam philosophy did not have a choice but to cut their losses and negotiate with the SriLankan government.
... on the other, if current fake democratic political system continues, then Pakistan will end up in anarchy. Just as Somalia. Perhaps it's best for us. Sadly, but we have the rulers we deserve.
@AlilConfused: Please study post conflict literature. After WW2, Europeans formed the coal & steel union, what later became the European Union. Look at reconciliation processes in South Africa, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Northern Ireland... every conflict end by engaging a honest and mutual respectful dialogue.
Is it another U-Turn in the making by Imran Khan? He should think before speaking and should not indulge in politics of confrontation. Hope that sense will prevail and he will call off PTI long march. Protest is fine and is beauty of the democracy. But the talk of Tsunami march can derail the system. All political parties including PML-N and PPP should join hands to strengthen the democratic values in Pakistan. They should focus on electoral reforms so that next elections are impartial and acceptable to all.
Funny 2 c Pmnl guys asking 4 mercy, things r unfolding ch nisar knows game is up pmnl ldrship is at a loss they didnt realise outcome will be the end of status quo parties at the time they rigged elections i remember they had big smiles last year contrast that a year later they look so glum
Pity thy trolls and sheep herd followers of a personality cult who changes his statements and takes U-Turns so blatantly.
http://tribune.com.pk/story/726665/imran-threatens-to-dissolve-k-p-assembly/
And now he says, “There is no likelihood of K-P government being dissolved,” Imran said replying to a question by the host."
The bach party in awe of such a person should have a major lobotomy of the head administered forthwith.
The brain freeze of IK in the words of his own brother-in-law:
http://jang.com.pk/jang/jul2014-daily/02-07-2014/col4.htm
So in Pakistan you can ask for the Judge you want? What nonsense !! This man does not know how a judicial system works. You cannot ask for a judge who will be sympathetic to your cause.
According to IK Khan vision the real decomaracy will be only when he will be in power. Power hungry greed just trying to topple the government when Pakistan needs unity. Within his party he is not less then a dictator calling for dissolving KP government while he has nothing to do with KPK.
IK is in denial. He just can't accept the fact that his party lost elections, and now is using lame excuses to justify PTIs failure. IK you need to accept losing with a big heart, instead of acting like sour loser. And don't worry about the system in Pakistan. Let democracy prevail and evolve. Things will improve with time, as both people and leaders learn tolerance and respecting differences. Ofcourse it may not happen in your lifetime, and hence we can understand your frustration to seize power impatiently. But your job as a leader should be to build a party that out lives you, and is a role model for others to follow. However, right now you only come out a frustrated old man, with a narrow vision.
No U-Turn please
IK just doesn't understand about street power. On one signal from the top man of PML(N) the mummy daddy tsunami will be wiped off the streets by PML(N) supporters.
@Usman Aziz: ADVICE - go and call the ANGELS, but wait think... then... it might be the PTI
IK will huff and IK will puff, and bring the house down, Being PTI supporter, now I am getting bored. IK need to focus on what you have. We all know election fraud has happened, has happened in the past, and will happen in the future. Your job is to ensure next elections are transparent, and prove yourself in K-P with good governance.
Once again IK is showing fault in his understandings of present scenario, this judiciary is the most corrupt & biased of Pak history , it is part of the problem so how can you ask for relief from those who engineered the problem. ..........Revolution is Answer
We desperately need election reforms, there is no doubt about that.
He will end up calling off the march for three reasons
1- New Protection of Pakistan Ordinance; he is afraid that it can be used against his supporters since they are extremely hostile and agitated. No foul behaviour would be tolerated in a city like Islamabad 2- PMLN-PPP and many other political parties have strongly opposed the long march, its going to backfire and hurt Imran 3- If anything happens to imrans supporters, imran will end up getting the blame for being so naive as a national leader.
Over 4 seats?? PTI has lost its magic.
You're true son of soil.God bless you.
IK, demands still not clear, whom he is asking, present Government, or Election commission, or previous Government?
IK says he has finger on the pulse yet he can't see majority wants operation against terrorists
What's the difference between Diesel & IK? Nothing.
Both are sympathizers to militants, both promised the sky, and both failed miserably.
IK is interested in power politics when military is battling for Pakistan survival. IDP's from his own constitute are struggling.. All his 90 day magic shows are junked..very disappointing person indeed
Go Imran, go.
Help Pakistan get rid of the punjabi establishment.
It is impressive that anyone and everyone wants to bring in "Tsunami" or "Revolution" or "Khilafat" and yet the country is going downhill. Perhaps Pakistanis need a leader that is willing to do simple and daily routine chores....a journey of even a 1,000 mile has to be completed one step at a time and there are no quick fixes in life!
Agreed. Not that I am a die-hard supporter of PTI but on principle PML-N should sincerely investigate the rigging claims of PTI in the spirit of democracy and also to show that they are clean. By not doing so, they only tell the world that they did actually rigged the elections.
For all those passive Pakistanis who have "what done has done" type attitude, how can PML-N be trusted to solve peoples issues in these critical times when they did not respect peoples' votes in the first place?
Imran,
1) PTI filed ONLY 15 petitions throughout Punjab. If we accept that all 15 were rigged against PTI, How can you say the govt got fake mandate. It won more than 125 seats.
2) If this was biggest fraud as you claim, why your party filed just 15 petitions. Why not 148?
3) The total number of petitions filed by PTI is 60, while PMLN filed 66 and PPP filed 68.
Lastly, Please show some mercy on us. How can you give 2 weeks timeline to Chief justice of Pakistan to complete the enquiry and declare by yourself that you will topple the govt if rigging is proved in 4 constituencies.
one thing is clear that if these demands are not accepted then 14th August Tsunami March will topple the PMLN Govt.
Master of U-turns
I think he is planning to boycott his own tsunami.
I have booked a chartered plane for my party leaders. They will be visiting KSA on the 14th of August just like they visited in 2007. Have a safe journey.
A true and honest man. Only hope for Pakistan >>> IK
If the court has to involved then a clear time limit must be placed along with the requirement that the outcome is a yes or a no and not a may be.
Can you hope jr. Iftaker Ch will deliver what you need.
"As a student of history and international relations, I assure that every conflict ends in dialogue" Does that even mean anything? Can one cite the WW1/WW2 or American Civil war or Indo Pak 71 war as examples? Somebody help me please.
Great Khan. Its extremely disappointing to know that no one is held accountable and punished even after so much rigging evidences. Can It happen in any developed country? We desperately need election reforms if we want to be in the list of developed countries.I believe future of the nation depends on it.
Long March won't solve our problems. IK you are again making fool of yourself. Remember you took long march for ex. CJ restoration and what happened in May 11, 2013, witnessed by whole the nation. You are not thinking straight. Today you are standing with Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk and tomorrow we know where you will be standing, Corruption is not our priority but terrorism and extremism is. Get your head straight for once in your life.
