PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has ordered that proper post-operative medical treatment be provided to a detainee who is at an internment centre in Ghallanai, Mohmand Agency.

The detainee, Noor Zaman, was picked up allegedly by the Mohmand Rifles on May 13, 2011, his grandmother Bakht Meena’s lawyer Taimur Khan told the court on Thursday.

Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Nisar Hussain Khan were informed that doctors had operated on Noor Zaman but he now needed proper medical treatment following the procedure.

The court said that while the patient had been operated on at the internment centre, he developed complications, so the authorities had to ensure he received proper treatment. All reports sought earlier must be submitted as well ordered the bench.

Similarly, the court also directed the provincial government to submit a report about a missing boy named Abdul Sattar. He was studying at Jehanzab College, Swat but went missing soon after he was admitted to first-year college.

A text message was sent from an unknown number showing his location, but since then his whereabouts have not been known. The court directed the provincial government to submit a report in these cases by checking the internment centres in the district.
