KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Women’s Wing is organising a conditioning camp for the Pakistan Women’s team and emerging players from July 5-20 at the Army School of Physical Training in Abbottabad.

The conditioning camp will be attended by 25 players, which include captain Sana Mir, Bismah Maroof, Kainat Imtiaz, Nida Dar, Rabiya Shah, Muneeba Ali, Aliya Riaz, Iram Javed, Jaweria Rauf, Marina Iqbal, Nahida Khan, Sidra Amin, Syeda Nain Fatima Abidi, Javeria Khan, Sajjida Shah, Fazila Akhlaq, Asmavia Iqbal, Qanita Jalil, Sania Iqbal, Sumaiya Siddiqui, Maham Tariq, Sadia Yousaf, Anam Amin, Naila Nazir and Sidra Nawaz.

The main objective of the camp is to improve the overall physical fitness of all players and to enhance the technical aspect of each player’s game in order to prepare them for the upcoming international events.

The camp will also be a part of the selection process for the Pakistan Women’s team for its upcoming tours to Australia in August and for the 17th Asian Games to be held in Incheon, Korea, in September.

“Just like the men’s team, our central contracts in the future will also be based on the fitness level of the players, which is why this camp is being arranged to set benchmarks,” team manager Ayesha Azhar told The Express Tribune.

“Apart from the likes of Sana, Nain and Bismah, most of the players are not up to the level of the requisite fitness standards to play international cricket.”
