Ramazan greetings: Olson urges tolerance for all

US Ambassador to Islamabad Richard Olson says Ramazan is period for demonstrating virtues of tolerance and respect.

ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador to Islamabad Richard Olson said on Tuesday the holy month of fasting was a period to demonstrate the virtues of tolerance and respect to others which was an occasion to get together people of all religious faiths as well. In his statement on the start of Ramazan, the American ambassador said the teachings of Islam place the utmost importance on religious freedom, harmony, and universal human values, and Ramazan is a period for demonstrating the virtues of tolerance and respect. He said in addition to prayer and spiritual reflection, the holy month offers an opportunity to celebrate the principles that bind together people of all religious faiths in a commitment to peace, justice, equality, and compassion towards one another, according to a statement issued by the US Embassy.
