Express Media Group’s live Ramazan transmission ‘Pakistan Ramazan’ – presented by Dr Aamir Liaqat Hussain – hosts hundreds of citizens, including people who are mistreated and brutalized by the society.
On Tuesday, Dr Aamir had specially invited old mothers, who have been abandoned by their children and are forced to spend their last years in Edhi’s Old Home. They talked about their miseries, which saddened everyone.
The host commiserated with these destitute mothers and presented them precious gifts. Those who leave their mothers in old age to fend for themselves are unfortunate, he said and paid rich tributes to famed social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi and his wife Bilqees Edhi, who have provided shelter for these people.
The programme took a beautiful turn when more than 500 guests pledged that they would work towards establishing an interest-free economy in Pakistan.
The broadcast also included an interesting quiz show ‘Zair, Zabar, Paish’, in which ‘Ittihad’ team secured the highest points. Every day the winning team is presented with a motorcycle and mobile phones while the winner of the final will be given a car and many other gifts.
In the ‘Rahay Naiki’ segment support was offered to the families facing serious problem. During the programme, people from Pakistan and abroad responded to the call of Dr Aamir and pledged to provide help to the needy.
Dr Aamir also distributed money bags among the needy families. At this occasion, famous social worker, Ramazan Chhipa, also appealed to people to help the Mehmooda Sultana Foundation.
Runaway kid is reunited
On the first Ramazan show, Dr Aamir had invited children, who were separated from their families and ended up in Edhi Centre. The family of nine-year-old Saima, who had appeared in Monday’s show, has approached Dr Aamir. It was an emotional moment when the girl heard that her family had been traced. Dr Aamir invited the girl’s parents to Karachi where they will be reunited.
