Ramazan relief: JI leader wants govt to help the poor

Naeem urged the government to help the masses by tackling issues such as inflation, unemployment and poverty.

KARACHI: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, has asked the government to provide relief to the masses during the holy month of Ramazan. In a statement issued on Sunday, Naeem expressed his concern over the dramatic rise in price of basic commodities such as vegetables, fruits, honey, milk and yogurt. He also condemned the 5% increase in customs duty on the import of 282 basic items. The JI leader further said that the prices of basic commodities have increased by almost 40% as compared to last year. Naeem urged the government to help the masses by tackling issues such as inflation, unemployment and poverty.
