FAISALABAD:

The district authorities on Friday ordered strict measures to ensure quality of the merchandise at Ramazan Bazaars after sale of substandard dates was discovered at one of the bazaars.

Inspecting the Ramazan Bazaar at Riaz Shahid Chowk near Iqbal Stadium, Commissioner Akram Javed asked for adequate standard and stock of produce to be made available at the bazaar on subsidised rates.

The team accompanying the commissioner inspected price lists and directed that they should be displayed prominently and revised daily.

He stressed the need for adequate security for the protection of the shoppers.

The commissioner inspected various stalls at the bazaar and enquired about the difference in the prices of products there in comparison with the open market.

Earlier, the commissioner met the local management of Utility Stores Corporation and urged them to ensure adequate stocks of basic necessities.

He said all utility stores would be inspected on a regular basis to ensure performance standards. Javed directed the district food controller to provide utility stores with flour bags on subsidised rates.
