Caught in the act: Alleged robber killed in encounter

SHIKARPUR: An alleged robber was killed in an encounter with the police on the Indus Highway Road near Lohar Laro, within the limits of Khanpur police station on Thursday. Unidentified armed dacoits were trying to loot the passengers of a bus coming to Karachi from Peshawar when the bandits opened fire at the police coming towards them. The police retaliated, which led to a crossfire. One of the dacoits, identified as Rasool Bux alias Rasolo Pahore of Khan Muhammad Pahore Village, was killed on the spot while his accomplices managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness. Nonetheless, the robbery attempt was foiled by the police. Khanpur police have registered the case and further investigations are underway.
