In a letter to the election commission, the FIA said they were investigating the assets of PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and his party, including details of assets declared when Qadri was a member of the National Assembly.
The election commission is yet to determine whether they will provide these details or not.

@Extreme: This news is regarding Mr Qadri, so I will limit my comments to Mr Qadri. I have written in the past that Mr Qadri must release his previous tax returns since the time he is in Canada. As a Canadian. Tax payer, you are supposed to keep your copies of tax returns. ( same is in USA). So Mr Qadri must not have any hesitation to release those copies. This is a common litmus tests in western countries to check the tax returns of politicians.
very soon the same FIA will investigate corruption cases against Nawaz shareef
FIA- if you aren't used by PMLN, No discrimination please! Start with PM and include few other big fishes too. This will give us hope and a reputable name to you....FIA!
@Humza: First of all, he does pay taxes in Canada. Refer to his recent interview in Kal Tak with Javed Chaudhry on Express News. He pays close to 40,000 rupees in tax in Pakistan and he has all the evidences for that. Moreover, your governor Punjab is still a British National and if my memory serves me correct then that is the same Queen and he is a federal appointee. Don't forget the sons of Ahsan Iqbal, Mian Nawaz have properties in the UK and are in the top 10 investors in London.
It would have been better if you stuck to the topic of money laundering rather than going onto the nationality issue. The difference between others and Dr. Qadri is that he actually says he has a foreign nationality whereas our political leaders do not. Moreover, I do not see anywhere in the constitution which says one cannot be a national of Pakistan and a foreign country. If you feel this law is wrong then please have it amended by passing this proposal onto your Local MNA. I'm sure he'll raise this issue and lead to an amendment.
Some sense should prevail in the Government, public sympathies will divert to Qadri.
@Extreme: A guy who travels in first class on a plane from Canada where he also pays no taxes and almost nothing in Pakistani taxes? He is going to end corruption and change democracy in Pakistan although he has sworn allegiance to the British Queen and accepts the constitution of Canada. You need to ask yourself what you think is a clean chit!
Did someone mention to the FIA that maybe they should start investigating all politicians beginning from the Prime Minister? Another abuse of state institutions for personal vendettas.
He should had paid a heed to Musharraf's advice that its not a problem to come to Pakistan, but the problem is when you have to leave Pakistan.
Please do, following this report, no one will be able to blame Dr. Qadri regarding money laundering. A clean chit is inevitable.
