“A recent report in a newspaper also indicated an allegation by a citizen that one Rafiq Gopnag of Gulshan-3 demanded from him a bribe of Rs200,000 for registration of purchase of his house,” a TI’s letter, addressed to Sindh chief secretary, says.

It says over one hundred properties are sold or purchased daily in each district, and on an average Rs30,000 bribe is taken on each transaction making the  daily bribe to be around Rs5 crores.

The TI calls them serious accusations and calls upon the chief secretary to curb this illegal practice ‘through which citizens of Karachi are blackmailed to pay annual bribe of Rs1.5 billion.

Just Karachi...It is everywhere. We live in a Patwari culture. Recently had experience in Sheikhupura...The local government bodies have a field day when industries purchase land...at all stages there are demands.

Patwari can ruin everything. The one dealing on our case gave a favorable report to us, then also gave a favorable rreport to another party...you know the result....and then whoever will give him the highest, he will amend the report accordingly.

Even MNA's minions get involved...We live in a very very corrupt country.

Bribery culture exists in the country for last 50-60 years. By now, this disease in blood of majority of Pakistanis. It is too late though, but better to be late than never.
